Getting there

By air: Bermuda International Airport is 15km (9 miles) from Hamilton. Transfers are available with Bee-Line Transportation and Bermuda Hosts (coaches). Taxis are also available.
Bermuda has no national airline, but British Airways operates regular flights from London Gatwick.  American Airlines flies from New York and Miami.
Approximate Flight Times: From London to Bermuda is 7 hours, and from New York is under 2 hours.
By water: Bermuda receives many visits from cruise ships during the summer months. Main ports are in the City of Hamilton, in the Town of St George and in the West End (its Royal Naval Dockyard, which was the British Royal Navy’s headquarters until 1995, has been beautifully restored as a mini-village and is currently the only location in Bermuda that can accommodate the largest of cruise ships: passengers can reach Hamilton directly by bus or ferry, and other locations by changing there).

1.  Consider a suite or two cabins.  If you have older children the additional room will be appreciated by both them and you.  If you have younger children, you can put them to bed and still use the living area or the other cabin without disturbing them.

2.  Consider signing up your children for at least one of the youth club activities right away.  This is their chance to make friends for the rest of the cruise.

3.  Be Safe.  Review the safety procedures of the ship as soon as possible.  You will find all the information in your stateroom.  Memorize your muster station for the mandatory safety drill, and you must attend the safety drill, it really wont take too much time out of your vacation.

4.  Set limits or ground rules for your children prior to leaving home.  No need to argue over how much ice cream is too much, or how late they can stay out in their respective area’s.

5.  Think about going formal.  At least one night on each cruise will have a formal night, this is a great opportunity to introduce your children to fine dining.  You can also take this opportunity to have a formal family portrait taken.

6.  Bring books.  After all the activities that are available to your children, you may want them to spend a bit of quiet time in your cabin so they can recuperate for the next days adventures.  A bit of reading is a great way to relax.

7.  Pack Sunscreen and bug spray.  Don’t let a sunburn ruin your vacation.  Bug spray is a must for some shore excursions that may take you zip lining thru the jungle or on dune buggies through the sand.

8.  Take a small white board with you.  This will allow you and your children to let each other know where you are.  Just hang it on your cabin door.  You might even a get a few hello’s from fellow cruisers.

9.  Ask the customer service desk if there are any tours of the ship you may be able to take.  A peek behind the scenes in educational and may even spark your child’s interest.

10.  Plan an adults only night.  Teens can stay by themselves and younger children can go to the kids clubs.  Take advantage of the specialty restaurants onboard and have a date with your spouse.
